This month, I’d like to highlight the importance of an essential tool in your network marketing business – focus. I have been in business for 25 years now and over that time I have observed regular peaks and troughs throughout the year. There are times when business is slow, and it makes sense to enjoy that downtime for personal use. Before long, my business will come out of that slow period and I need to be on top of my game to ensure that the busy times are as fruitful as possible.
However, we only come to recognise the patterns over time. For new people, starting out on their network marketing business journey, it can be difficult to manage your focus year-round. That’s why I want to share why October is a key time to focus on your business.
Why October is Important
October can be seen as a transition month before the hectic Christmas season. Of course, we don’t just need to plan for the Christmas season, we also need to plan for what comes after it – in the New Year. Now, for those of you who are reading this, thinking ‘oh, stop running away with my life!’ I get it. I don’t like to see Christmas decorations in the shops too early, I believe that there is a time for Christmas – and that is in December. That said, when it comes to focussing on your business, there is no way around it. If we want to be successful, we must plan for the months ahead.
What to Focus On
If, as a network marketing business owner, you want to take advantage of the Christmas peak in gift sales, now is the time to figure out what you will do to meet potential customers face-to-face in December. Now is a great time to ramp up your visibility strategies, so that you are top of mind for those existing and potential customers when they start their gift shopping.
If you will be very busy making lots of sales in the run-up to Christmas, it will be nothing short of impossible to plan for 2019 at the same time. Apart from your own personal Christmas preparations, you will be busy working in the business, so working on the business will get set to one side. Yes, you can pick up your planning in January, but wouldn’t it be even better if your plan is already in place before the silly season so that you can rest over the holidays and then jump straight back into work to execute your New Year plan come January 2nd?
While it is possible to ‘wing it’, this haphazard approach doesn’t allow you to plan, execute and review – three essential elements for business success. Focussing on your business, making a clear and plan and deciding how you will execute it in advance gives all of us the best chance of business success.
